Book Creator Projects in French

The students in our school are learning core French, which means that it's quite challenging for them to create French content for a technology project. Rita is helping them with questions, vocabulary practice and templates, while I am focusing on the technology part.
Here are the first photos of how the grade 6/7 students are practicing on Book Creator - obviously with English instructions.

Book Creator Projects

We have been using Book Creator with several classes in Library in English.

Our themes:

Grade 4: Biomes - the students are assigned "jobs" (ecologist, zoologist, meteorologist etc.), then they research and create 2-3 pages for their non-fiction biome-themed books.

Grade 5: Provinces of Canada - students are researching provinces and territories of Canada and create pages for their own non-fiction book.

For each project the students have to add non-fiction text features to their books as well: cover, table of contents, captions, glossary and index pages.

The students (and the classroom teachers) are quite motivated and excited to use Book Creator. We had one full class devoted to learn the technicalities and tricks, where they created practice pages about their favourite sports and Revelstoke highlights.

First we found it a bit complicated to combine their books together, but in the end we figured it out, we just had to do it on a teacher's iPad.

Hopefully we'll be able to print them in colour soon.
